Art
At St Mark’s CE Primary School we believe that Art and Design is a vital and integral part of children’s education. It provides them with opportunities to develop a range of ways in which they can share and express their individual creativity, and contributes to children’s personal development in independence, judgement, resilience and self-reflection. Moreover, it enables pupils to develop a natural sense of wonder and curiosity about the world around them and therefore links strongly to our school Christian values. We intend that our high-quality, enriched curriculum will engage, inspire and challenge pupils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent, create and evaluate their own works of art, craft and design. As children progress, they will be able to think critically and develop a more rigorous understanding of Art and Design, introducing them to an appreciation that will last a lifetime. They will also understand how Art and Design both reflect and shape our history, and contribute to the culture, creativity and wealth of our city and our nation
