Admissions Policy for St Mark's CE Primary

Admissions Policy

Admissions to the school are the responsibility of the governing body. The local authority will manage the admission process. Parents of children wishing to enter St Mark’s should make an application directly to the Local Authority.

 
The following agreement between the governors, the Diocese of Manchester and the local authority lays down the criteria for admissions and procedures to be followed. 

 

School Capacity 

The capacity of the school (including Nursery) is 460.

The school is organised into 15 classes:

  • Nursery,
  • Reception,
  • Key Stage 1; formed of Years 1 & 2;
  • Key Stage 2 formed of Years 3, 4, 5, & 6.

 

The school standard admission number is 40 children for Nursery and 60 children for Reception to Year 6.

Nursery consists of 20 full time places, 10 part time morning places and 10 part time afternoon places.  Once the admissions criteria has been applied and 40 places are allocated, the full time/part time places are then allocated according to age, with the oldest children getting a full time place, the second oldest a morning place and the youngest children getting an afternoon place.

Nursery Admissions 2026: Monday 17th November 2025, 5:00pm 

Reception Admissions 2026: Tuesday 18th November 2025, 5:00pm

 

Both evenings will entail a short presentation from our EYFS lead followed by an opportunity to have a look around the setting.

Admissions Process for Reception & Nursery

(September starts only)

 

Should your child have been offered, and consequently accepted a place, school will be in touch with information regarding the process for enrolling your child.

 

1) Parents / Guardians will be invited to a Welcome Meeting with the EYFS lead. You will also have an opportunity to see the EYFS

 

2) Your child(ren) will be invited to attend a Stay and Play, usually in June or July

 

3) You will receive an email invitation to register with Arbor, our Parent Portal. Please look out for an email from no-reply@mail.arbor-education.com . On first contact, most email servers mark this sender as junk. Please ensure you have added this address to your safe senders, and mark as 'not junk' on receipt.

 

4) You will need to register and login to the portal and complete the following:

          - Check and confirm the information already held (provided by Salford Admissions) is correct

          - Complete additional information for secondary guardian & emergency contact details

          - Input Medical and Dietary Information

          - Review and complete Parental Consents
