St Mark's Church of England Primary School

A family working and growing together to reach our potential.

Courageous Advocacy

Courageous advocacy is defined by the Church of England as “the act of speaking out against an issue of injustice, often on behalf of those whose voice is not heard.”

At St. Mark's we believe that courageous advocacy is important for instilling the values of fairness, justice and responsibility. Speaking out, at whatever level this takes place, requires an element of courage. Becoming a courageous advocate for change, therefore, must involve being informed about an issue and it must move beyond simply knowing, to saying and doing.

Our Christian vision is theologically rooted in a call to courage:

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid. Do not be discouraged for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go’ (Joshua 1:9).

This call reminds us that we are not alone when we stand up for what is right because God walks with us, giving us strength to speak out and act with compassion and courage.

Each year, St. Mark’s support the Royal British Legion by selling poppies and a variety of stationery.  The pupils love the different stationery we receive every year. Every poppy sold shows you care about the lives of our Armed Forces Community. For further facts and  information about the poppies please click the link below:
