St. Mark, also known as John Mark, was an early Christian evangelist and the traditionally recognised author of the Gospel of Mark. He played an important role in spreading the message of Jesus in the first century.

Mark’s Gospel is the shortest of the four canonical Gospels, making it concise and fast-paced.
It begins dramatically with John the Baptist “roaring like a lion”, calling people to repentance and preparing the way for Jesus’ arrival.
The Gospel emphasises action, immediacy, and the authority of Jesus, highlighting his miracles and teachings.
St. Mark’s work has influenced Christian teaching and liturgy, and he is remembered as a key figure in the early Church, particularly in relation to spreading the Gospel message.
St. Mark is the patron saint of Venice, whose symbol is the winged lion, reflecting the powerful opening of his Gospel.
St. Mark's Feast Day is celebrated on 25th April each year.
